Overview

Huddle helps retail managers plan and deliver informative and engaging meetings for their store employees, while gaining insights about communication within the team.

The original idea for this project was quite literally dreamt up by a colleague of mine whilst we were working in an Apple retail store. The following day he presented me with a sketch outlining the initial idea and asked for my opinion. A week later all stores across the globe were closed due to the coronavirus pandemic and his idea became our personal lockdown project.

This project was originally created as a working app prototype for iPadOS using real world content. For privacy reasons I have recreated screenshots for this case study in Figma using anonymised content.

The Problem

Each day begins with a 15-minute meeting. It’s an opportunity for employees to gather and connect as a team. They learn key updates from the business and should leave the meeting inspired and prepared to deliver the very best experience for the first customer who walks through the door.

For managers, however, their morning starts with a challenge. They must prepare the content for the meeting by collating information from many different sources, like sales figures, performance targets, and training material. At the start of the meeting, they must be energised to deliver informative content in an engaging way.

For managers, however, their morning starts with a challenge. They must prepare the content for the meeting by collating information from many different sources, like sales figures, performance targets, and training material. There is usually a small amount of time to prepare and by the start of the meeting, they must be energised and ready to deliver informative content in an engaging way.

Solution

We proposed a product to be used by store leadership teams to make it easier to plan and deliver more engaging content for in-store meetings. Meanwhile collecting analytics to help understand the value meetings and communication have on the stores results.

Outcome

The resulting product is an iPad app to be used in retail stores to quickly plan and deliver meeting content collated from a library of “stories”. The global retail communications team would maintain the library, but store employees could also submit content to be included in meetings at the hosting manager's discretion.

The resulting product is an iPad app to be used in retail stores to quickly plan and deliver content collated from a single library of “stories”. The global retail communications team would maintain the library, but store employees could also submit content to be included in meetings at the hosting manager's discretion.

This is only half of the story…

I have plenty more to tell you about this project and I will be concluding this case study soon.
